Frequently Asked Questions

What is SURFUSION?

SURFUSION is a process that has been developed by CamTech over a period of years whereby Rigid Thermofoil is used in roll coating, profile wrapping and membrane pressing to create an entire product line with an identical thermofoil surface. Stiles & rails, center panels, molding and vertical grade laminates are all made with the same thermofoil, eliminating the possibility that the “match” will not be acceptable to the end user.

How is SURFUSION different from other matching programs?

Many thermofoil door manufacturers offer “close match” solutions. However, when thermofoil, high pressure laminate and melamine are all manufactured by different companies, it is virtually impossible to assure that the material is going to match in color, pattern or texture. Even when color and pattern are matched due to cooperation among manufacturers, slight variations in texture will change the way light is reflected and the color is perceived by the end user.

What is your warranty?

Our products are warranted for a period of 1 year when installed and used in accordance with industry standards. See Warranty document available for download on the Ordering page of this website.

What is Membrane Pressing?

Membrane pressing is the process of laminating thermofoil or other thermoformable laminates onto pre-shaped panels (usually MDF), such as a one piece MDF kitchen cabinet door or center panel, using a process of heat, vacuum and pressure to form the laminate over the contoured surface.

What is Thermofoil?

Thermofoil, short for Rigid Thermofoil or RTF, is a thermoformable laminate made from PVC. It can be manufactured in solid, wood grain, as well as in abstract patterns and with various textures such as matte, satin and woodgrain.

What is MDF?

MDF is an engineered wood product formed by breaking down hardwood or softwood into wood fibers, combining them with resin binders and forming into panels by applying heat and pressure. It is more dense and durable that particleboard. CamTech uses only the highest “door” grade MDF to ensure durability as well as a quality finish in the construction of its thermofoil (MDF) kitchen doors.
